Peace Winds Team Prepares to Deploy after Venezuela Earthquakes
Peace Winds is in the process of dispatching a disaster response team to Venezuela after two powerful earthquakes, magnitudes 7.5 and 7.2, struck on the evening of Monday June 24. Staff will assess the needs and support emergency relief on the ground.
The larger of the two earthquakes is the most powerful to strike Venezuela in more than a century. Extensive damage is being reported throughout the north of the country, and the government is calling for international support in Caracas and La Guairá.
Peace Winds’ ARROWS disaster response team is considered one of Asia’s most capable disaster responders, and Peace Winds supported local relief and recovery efforts for wildfires in Maui (2023) and Los Angeles (2025). When the “emergency phase” of disasters ends, we remain committed to working with local governments and nonprofit partners for long-term recovery, including food, water, supplies, and shelter; psychosocial support; and a range of community rebuilding initiatives.
