Japan Relief & Recovery Fund
Peace Winds America and Peace Winds Japan responded immediately to the March 11th tsunami in northeast Japan. Together, we have distributed 160 tons of supplies – including food, water, sanitary items, blankets and heaters – to over 20,000 people in evacuation shelters. Peace Winds remains committed to relief and recovery in the Tohoku Region. We are working with local governments to assist temporary housing residents that lost everything. Additionally, Peace Winds is partnering with local Chambers of Commerce and Industry and with Fishing Cooperatives to create jobs, restore livelihoods, and accelerate recovery. We appreciate your support for the people of Japan!
Donate to Where It’s Needed Most
Peace Winds America programs strengthen disaster preparedness and response in Asia Pacific. Our core belief is that disaster response begins with preparedness, and that both disaster preparedness and response should integrate the efforts of governments, militaries, NGOs and the private sector. PWA programs bring together experts from various fields to increase planning and connectivity, and strengthen coordinated, collaborative preparedness and response. PWA’s disaster response focuses on partnering and empowering local NGOs, who can best provide relief and recovery. In the event of a disaster, PWA staff and NGO partners coordinate on-site relief, recovery, and provide liaison assistance among local, national, and international responders.
