In the small village of Gunjiya in Kenya’s northeastern Garissa County, the old, unusable borehole used to mean long, unsafe journeys – especially for women and children – to collect often contaminated water.
But a recent Peace Winds/UNICEF program has transformed the borehole into a solar-powered system that can reliably deliver safe water for years to come.
