Supporting Internally Displaced Families Within Iraq

Timeframe: 1996-Present

In addition to supporting refugees who have fled to Iraq from other countries, Peace Winds implements programs for some of Iraq’s internally displaced persons (IDPs) – individuals who have had to flee their homes but remain in the borders of their country. Most of the IDPs Peace Winds supports have fled parts of Iraq as a result of attacks by ISIS and are now living in camps in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) in northern Iraq.

Peace Winds is implementing a number of support projects for displaced persons in the KRI, including vocational training for young adults, building and improving schools for children, and improving access to clean water. Check out the blog posts below to learn more about Peace Winds’ work with IDPs in Iraq.
