South Korea Wildfire Response

Timeframe: 2025-Present

Peace Winds America works in alliance with Peace Winds Japan and Peace Winds Korea to respond to disasters and crises around the world.

On March 21, 2025, the worst wildfires on record in South Korea broke out in South Gyeongsang Province. They displaced about 37,000 people and killed 32 others. A Peace Winds team responded immediately, working alongside local responders and other aid groups to provide food, clothing, supplies, and medical consultations to first responders and survivors living in evacuation centers.

Peace Winds continues to support recovery, with a special focus on isolated areas where other organizations are providing less support. Many of the evacuees here are elderly. Programs encompass distribution of essential supplies, hot food and community meals, bath and laundry vouchers in partnership with local businesses, and psychosocial and grief care.

Peace Winds Korea also carries out domestic programs to support healthcare and economic opportunities.
