Japan Typhoon Jebi
On September 4th morning Typhoon Jebi struck Japan. The strongest typhoon to hit Japan in 25 years brought floods and winds over 130 miles per hour. Some areas received over 20 inches of rain followed by floods and landslides.
Nearly 10,000 people have been evacuated to more than 1,600 evacuation shelters across the country. Many prefectures suffered massive damages. These prefectures are still recovering from early July rains and massive flooding in western Japan. This typhoon has greatly delayed these flood survivors as they struggle to recover, even creating new victims now needing assistance.
Peace Winds is providing relief supplies and counseling at the evacuation centers, and helping people to return to their homes when possible. Peace Winds provides transportation, cleaning equipment and supplies, plus staff and labor.
