Supporting Syrian refugees in Northern Iraq

Peace Winds Japan, with funding from the U.S. Department of State: Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration and  the U.S. Consulate General Erbil, are working to improve living conditions for Syrian refugees in refugee camps in Erbil, Iraq. This is mainly achieved by improving and building durable shelters for the refugees.

PWJ also works to assist refugees in the long-term by working alongside the Barzani Charity Foundation to support tool centers which lend and provide training for various useful tools within refugee camps. This allows refugees not only to borrow tools but to also receive training in skills that may be used to provide for themselves in the future. In response to the recent coronavirus outbreak, PWJ also began to distribute materials necessary to produce reusable masks so that refugees can focus on rebuilding their lives while mitigating risks.
