Morocco Earthquake Emergency Relief
On September 8 at 11:11 p.m., a 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Morocco. It was the most powerful in over 120 years, leaving thousands of people dead or injured and thousands of homes and buildings damaged or destroyed. The epicenter of the quake is located in a mountainous region, about 43 miles outside of Marrakesh. Peace Winds has been working with local partners to aid the survivors living in these hard-to-access areas.
Peace Winds staff members were dispatched shortly following the disaster to assess the damage and provide residents with emergency supplies. This includes water and solar panels to provide electricity, a much-needed asset for earthquake survivors living in tents in remote villages. Peace Winds continues to work with local partners to provide support to the families and pets in the wake of this disaster. Check out our blog posts below for more updates.
