Consul General Kiyokazu Ota and Representative Jim McDermott at the August 12th reception.

Representative Jim McDermott, Chairman of the Peace Winds America Board of Directors, hosted a reception in Seattle on August 12 to honor the supporters of Japan relief and recovery.  Representative McDermott, along with Consul General Kiyokazu Ota of the Consulate General of Japan, expressed their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of support for the people of Japan and for Peace Winds America.

The various PWA supporters present at the reception were representatives from the Japan Business Association of Seattle and from other local companies, schools and universities, churches, cultural and community leaders, musicians, artists, and many more.

Through support from our donors, Peace Winds has distributed over 160 tons of relief supplies to more than 28,000 survivors at evacuation shelters.  We have provided household supplies to over 8,000 families moving from shelters into temporary housing, and we have accelerated economic recovery by partnering with local Fishing Associations and Chambers of Commerce and Industry.  Click here for a summary of Peace Winds disaster relief and recovery accomplishments in Japan.
