East Africa Refugees

Timeframe: 2013 - Present

Since 2013, Peace Winds has been monitoring the growing conflicts in the East Africa region and supporting refugees and displaced persons fleeing to Kenya and Uganda.

Peace Winds has been providing construction materials and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Assistance) programs to the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya and the Juba City camp on the South Sudan/Uganda border. Peace Winds also has been supporting the Dadaab Refugee camp in Kenya, the largest refugee camp in the world, by building structures and temporary housing for families in the camp.

Today Peace Winds continues to improve conditions in these camps by partnering with local NGOs to install latrines, construct shelters, deliver hygiene education, and assist with child and maternal healthcare.
