Creating Opportunities in Southern Haiti

Timeframe: 2010-Present

Peace Winds began support activities in Haiti after a catastrophic 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck just west of the country’s capital, Port-au-Prince, in January 2010. Since then, Peace Winds has remained active supporting communities near Les Cayes in the Southern Department. Our team has carried out vocational training and entrepreneurship programs; supported relief and recovery after natural disasters; hosted community-wide disaster readiness workshops; and constructed community centers that double as emergency shelters in times of disaster.
