Vote to Help Peace Winds Compete for a $30k+ Prize to Support Menstrual Health for Refugee Girls & Women
Please help Peace Winds get a $30k+ grant to help refugee girls by voting for our video in this year’s “Project for Awesome” video contest.
One of the leading reasons that teenage girls in refugee camps skip school is the lack of sanitary pads and a clean, dignified place to change. In fact, 43% of girls in one of the Uganda camps where we work report staying away from school during their periods to avoid teasing and accidents. This fuels distressingly high drop-out rates among refugee girls who already have so much stacked against them.
Now, foreign aid cuts have made things even worse because menstrual health and hygiene programming was the first to be slashed.
We’re proud of our work to help refugee girls and women experiencing ‘period poverty’ in Kenya, South Sudan, and Uganda with comprehensive programming that combines pad distribution, washroom construction, and menstrual health education for both girls and boys that combats stigma and teaches healthy practices. But we need your help.
Please click the button above to cast your vote by entering your email address, receiving a sign-in link (no password required), and clicking the red “vote for charity” button (deadline: Wed 2/18).
Your vote can help us secure funding to reach more women and girls in need. Too often, the needs of girls and women are overlooked, but your support can help us expand programming in six camps that have been hit hard by recent aid cuts. Thank you!
