Peace Winds Responds Immediately to Earthquake and Tsunami in Northeast Japan
Peace Winds America (PWA) is responding quickly to Japan’s devastating earthquake and tsunami by providing support and financial assistance through its sister organization Peace Winds Japan (PWJ). PWJ is one of Japan’s largest and most effective grassroots disaster response organizations, with nearly 20 years of experience providing direct relief services to communities affected by natural disasters.
Despite transportation challenges, Peace Winds Japan was able to reach Miyagi Prefecture via helicopter to conduct an initial needs assessment. The hard hit regions targeted by Peace Winds are currently not reachable by land. Peace Winds will helicopter in emergency supplies and staff to serve disaster survivors in the coming days.
Peace Winds America CEO Chuck Aanenson will fly to Tokyo on Monday, March 14 to support Peace Winds Japan relief operations.
