Peace Winds America Joins Peace Winds Japan in Disaster Areas

Peace Winds America CEO Dr. Charles Aanenson, who brings over 30 years of experience in international development and disaster relief, arrived in Tokyo today.  Dr. Aanenson is working closely with Peace Winds Japan to assist in coordinating relief efforts.  From 2002 to 2008, USAID posted Dr. Aanenson in the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo.

“Peace Winds Japan is a trusted partner, highly experienced in providing emergency relief on the ground both in Japan and around the world.  By working with PWJ, we are assured of delivering aid in the most efficient and effective way possible to those who need it most,” says Aanenson.  “Please give generously to help the people of Japan, and please give now.  The need is urgent and widespread. Clearly, there is not a moment to lose.”

Peace Winds America’s main office in Seattle continues to provide financial and administrative support for Peace Winds’ relief efforts in Japan.  Currently, Peace Winds is providing emergency supplies and services for the  people of Kesennuma, one of the hardest hit areas in Miyagi Prefecture. Peace Winds Japan is also part of a needs assessment team working on the ground to identify those communities at highest risk and determine the nature of their needs.
