How to Leave a Legacy with Peace Winds America
A planned gift—sometimes called a legacy gift—is a deeply meaningful way to support Peace Winds America’s humanitarian work for years to come. You may choose to include Peace Winds America in your will, trust, or beneficiary designations as part of your estate planning. Planned gifts cost nothing today and can have a lasting impact.
What Is a Planned (Legacy) Gift? ~ A planned gift is a charitable contribution arranged now and fulfilled in the future, most often through:

- A beneficiary designation on a retirement account (IRA, 401(k)), life insurance policy, or bank account
How to Make a Planned Gift to Peace Winds America
1. Consult Your Attorney or Advisor ~ Work with your estate planning attorney or financial advisor to ensure your plans comply with the laws of your state.

- Purpose-Restricted Gift – You can also designate the gift for a specific Peace Winds activity.
- I give to Peace Winds America, a nonprofit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Washington (Federal tax ID/EIN: 26-3744952), the sum of $____ (or ___% of my estate) to support [xxx program or purpose].
- For purpose-restricted gifts, we also recommend that your attorney include a provision such as the following to give Peace Winds America sufficient flexibility to do good with your gift should it no longer be possible for us to use it as you originally intended.

Examples of Purpose-Restricted Gifts to Peace Winds America
While unrestricted gifts give us the flexibility to meet the most pressing needs of the moment, you can also specify a purpose that you wish us to support with your gift, including the work that Peace Winds America does jointly with its international partners in Japan, Korea, and elsewhere. Some examples include:
- Disaster responses in the United States, in Japan, or in Asia
- Support for refugee communities
- Animal care in Japan (Peace Wanko dog rescue, Peace Nyanko cat rescue, etc.)
