Help Peace Winds Deliver Food Aid in Gaza During Ramadan

Despite the ceasefire in Gaza, restrictions on humanitarian aid mean that many people continue to face hunger and a shortage of basic necessities. Peace Winds and our local partners are working to bridge some of these gaps, and as many in Gaza observe Ramadan over the next month, we are asking for your help to make this important time a bit more peaceful for families in need.
February 17 marked the beginning of the holy month of fasting for Muslims. The practice of fasting from sunrise to sunset requires considerable strength and calls on people to reflect on the hardships of others. But this isn’t the only thing that makes Ramadan special to Muslims; it is a time for friends and family to celebrate traditions and make new memories, whether preparing meals for the breaking of the fast (Iftar), decorating with lanterns (Fanous), or simply enjoying one another’s company. And it is a time of giving back to the community through charitable donations, volunteering, and other acts.

However, the war in Gaza has prevented Muslims here from fully celebrating Ramadan for the last several years. More than 70,000 people have been killed, and 81% of buildings have been damaged or destroyed. Restrictions on commercial and humanitarian supplies into Gaza have endured, causing food shortages that reached famine levels in August last year. Although conditions have slightly improved, one in four Gazan households is still surviving by eating only one meal a day.
Still, Ramadan remains deeply significant for Muslims in Gaza. So Peace Winds is working with a local nonprofit partner to provide food assistance, alleviate some of the hunger, and help families spend Ramadan more peacefully. We need your help so that we can provide gift certificates to displaced people in Gaza, which they can exchange for food and other daily necessities. This ensures that they get what they need most. Even small donations can make a big difference, and we are grateful for your support during this time of compassion and care for those facing hardship.
